A Death in the Familu
Norfolk Resident Trooper Greg Naylor’s 38 year-old brother died suddenly on April 19. He leaves behind two children, Hunter and Brytnee Ann. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friendly Hands Food Bank, Inc. (FISH), PO Box 844, Torrington, CT 06790.
Wood Burning Furnace Ban Proposed
The Planning & Zoning Commission has proposed an ordinance against wood burning furnaces. This will likely be voted on along with the town budget on May 12.
Home Invasion Suspect In Court
Raymond Santana, one of the three men who allegedly broke into an Ashpohtag Road home on March 25, pleaded not guilty on April 22 in Litchfield Superior Court to the charges of first degree burglary, first degree robbery, second degree assault, sixth degree larceny, felony home invasion and conspiracy to commit all of the above charges. Jesse Diaz and Eric Castillo, the other two men allegedly involved in the incident, will enter their pleas in Litchfield Superior Court in early May.
The Torrington Area Health District issued a score of 88 to Mizza’s Pizza during their health inspection of the restaurant in early April. Although a minimum score of 80 is required to pass the inspection, there are 10 violations known as four-point demerits, which result in an automatic failure. Mizza’s received one of these demerits, which relate to food temperature and protection.
