The Connecticut Resource and Recovery Authority is sponsoring an electronic collection day on Saturday, June 21 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. The collection site is at the Torrington Water Pollution Control Plant on Bogue Road. Electronic waste includes almost anything that plugs into a wall except for refrigerators and humidifiers that contain Freon gas. Computers, TV’s, VCRs and video games are all candidates for disposal. It is time to get your stickers for the Transfer Station and Toby Pond. They can only be purchased at the Town Clerk’s office. Hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to Noon, and from 1 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Friday hours are 8:30 a.m. until Noon. Should you have any questions, contact 542-5679. In cooperation with the Norfolk Lions Club, we collect medical equipment such as hospital beds, wheel chairs, crutches and commodes for families that need them. They are received at the Town Clerk’s office and kept in the basement of Town Hall. Should anyone need such equipment, please contact Town Clerk Anne Moses. The Norfolk Lions Club has long supported children who need glasses but are unable to afford them. All requests for eye glasses for children are handled through the Botelle Elementary School. The Lions Club has recently expanded their support to include adults. Requests for help should be made through the Selectmen’s Office and all requests will be kept confidential.
