“Under the Greenwood Tree” Mary Tyrrell, Executive Director Global Institute of Sustainable Forestry, Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, will deliver a lecture on the history and future of Norfolk’s forests. The Energy Task Force is holding another lighting sale at Town Hall on Saturday, September 27 from 10am to 4 pm. Compact fluorescent light bulbs and lamps in many shapes and sizes will be available at discounted prices. Items tend to sell out, so get there early for the best selection.
An Ongoing Memoir Takes A Turn On Saturday, September 20, at 5 p.m., the library is sponsoring a program entitled “If At First You Don’t Succeed, Try, Try Again.” The author, Norfolk’s Owen Oxley, shares his lengthy process of rewriting the events of his life, which took many unexpected turns. Oxley’s presentation promises to be instructive and humorously related.

Historical Hike to Stoney Lonesome On Saturday, September 27, Richard Byrne will lead a hike along the old Connecticut Western railroad tracks to Stoney Lonesome, site of a train wreck that occurred in 1882. Find out more about the history of the railroad and the legendary train wreck on this walk sponsored by the Norfolk Historical Society. Meet at the museum at 10 a.m. Free for members; $10 for non-members.
Treasure, Baked Goods and Craft fair The Immaculate Conception church will be holding a bake sale, treasure and craft fair on September 13th from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in Klauer Hall. If you are interested in renting a table ($25) to sell crafts or treasures contact Gloria Manship at 542-5260. Hotdogs and drinks will be available for sale.
