Neither Rain nor Sleet…

After 22 years of service, Norfolk’s mail carrier, Ed Josefow, will complete his appointed rounds as of February, 27, 2009. Having trained for work in the aviation industry, Josefow entered the job market during a slow economy. Instead, at age 40, he chose a job which offered security and steady employment, and allowed him to be outdoors and interacting with people. “I try to be as friendly as I can,” he says. Most Norfolkians will agree that he has been very successful. As to the demands of the job, Josefow claims no problems with dogs (he carries dog treats in his truck), but finds the Norfolk winters a challenge. Hence his plans to visit warmer climes. “This is an optimum time to retire,” he says, “I’m 62 years old, still in good health, and love to travel– motorcycling in the Smokies, visiting the Pacific northwest….” Putting in 71 miles a day, five days a week, Josefow crosses paths with the road crew on a daily basis. “They have been great to me, courteous and they help me to do my job better. Believe me, I know every bump in the road.”
