Norfolk Talent on Display at Sold-Out Lion’s Club Show
By Bridgette L. Rallo
It was standing room only on Thursday night, May 21 at Infinity Hall, as Norfolk residents turned out in force to support local emergency services. The Lion’s Club, which raises money for the ambulance corps, staged only the second talent show in its history and sold all 303 tickets to the event. The last talent show was held seven years ago and, like this one, was a huge hit with residents. Master of Ceremonies John Funchion kicked off the evening with a comedy monologue. First Selectman Sue Dyer nearly brought down the house when she “powdered” Funchion with a floury pillow. Twelve home-grown acts followed, varying from a rousing African drum ensemble to a spectacular performance on a full-sized marimba by Andrew Thompson. Ambulance corps volunteers rounded out the event with their ensemble rendition of “Lean on Me.”
