Violin Concert to Benefit Church of Christ
By Colleen Gundlach
Norfolk resident Suzanne Bourdeaux has studied violin all of her life. She was trained in the Suzuki method, traveled abroad with a touring group, and performed with the Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra. She will now present her first solo concert to benefit Norfolk’s Church of Christ Congregational this month.
Since moving to town five years ago, Bourdeaux has demonstrated her diverse talents by singing in the Congregational Church choir and with the Litchfield County Choral Union. She says she has also “had fun playing instrumental violin pieces with the choir,” and is now ready to perform on her own.
The impetus for her decision to do this concert was as a tribute to her mother, who passed away last year. She and her father put together a recital in her mother’s memory, and much of the material from that recital will be performed in her Norfolk concert, which promises to be a memorable event.
Bourdeaux will be in concert on Sunday, May 2 at 3 p.m. in the Battell Chapel at the Church of Christ. Admission is free, though a free-will offering will be taken, to benefit Norfolk’s Congregational Church.
