Annual Town Meeting, Hazardous Waste, and Homeowners Tax Relief

By Sue Dyer

The Annual Town Meeting will be held on Monday, May 14 at 7 p.m. in the Hall of Flags at Botelle School.

Household Hazardous Waste Day is Saturday, June 2. Drop-off will be at the Public Works Facility in Falls Village from 9 a.m. to noon.  This is an opportunity to get rid of those chemicals, oil based paints, household cleaners and fertilizers that are no longer of use.  Citizens must register by contacting the Selectmen’s Office at 860-542-5829.

The applications for the Homeowners Tax Relief Programs for the elderly and the totally disabled are due by May 15.  Please contact the Assessor’s Office at 860-542-5287.

I think it should be noted that Mr. Edward Sepples, the father and father-in-law of Eileen and Jeff Rydel of Litchfield Road is taking part in the American Warrior Program on May 26.  The American Warrior Foundation’s goal is to make sure they get as many World War II Veterans as possible to Washington, D. C. to see the memorials.  On behalf of the Board of Selectmen I think it is wonderful that Mr. Sepples is going and would like  to take this opportunity to thank him for his service during World War II.  If any other World War II veteran is interested in a future trip, please contact the Selectmen’s Office for contact information.
