Starting with the December 2003 photo of Keith Harvill closing his pharmacy and ending a decade letter with the picture of Bill and Barbara Gridley striding through Gridley Gate, Bruce Frisch has taken 238 photos for Norfolk Now, which is now celebrating its tenth anniversary. In commemoration of this milestone, the Norfolk Library will be mounting a solo exhibition featuring Frisch’s ongoing contribution to Norfolk Now as staff photographer.

Most of the photos in the exhibition are in color rather than in black and white as they ran in Norfolk Now. Still, Frisch feels that portraits are sometimes stronger in black and white and shows six that way.

As a long-time professional photographer, Frisch has shot 130 covers for science and aerospace magazines. In the last decade he has shown locally at Artwell and the Atrium of the Warner Theatre. In addition to these and other local venues, Frisch’s photographs are periodically shown in New York.

To see some of Frisch’s photos from the next ten years of Norfolk Now, just look at his many contributions to this current issue.

The show will run October 5-29, with a reception from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 6.
