Nature Collage Workshop

Art Reception
A closing reception for the ‘Sky & Sea’ exhibit at Aija will take place on Saturday, February 1 from 4 to 6 p.m. Come meet the artist, Diane Dupuis. She will host a small conversation at 5 p.m. about encaustics and their use and application in these paintings.
Consider the Conversation
The Salisbury Visiting Nurse Association presents “Consider the Conversation” on Saturday, February 1 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Sharon Congregational Church. This talk covers the end-of-life decisions families face. For more information, contact Tina Hogan at 860-435-0816.
Winter Farmers Market
In the midst of winter, a little slice of summer… The Norfolk Farmers Market will be back on Saturday, February 8 with local meats, cheeses, jams, breads, pastries and more. The winter market will be held in town hall from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Details and updates can be found at www.norfolkfarmersmarket.org. If weather forces cancellation, it will be announced on the Web site and on Facebook.
Chili Cook-Off
A Chili Cook-Off sponsored by the Catholic Women’s Club of Immaculate Conception Church will be held at the church’s Klauer Hall on Saturday, February 8 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Enter your favorite chili in the competition with a $25 entry fee (prizes will be awarded) or just come to enjoy a delicious chili lunch (suggested donations of $5 per person or $10 for an entire family).
Documentary Film Series at the Library
The library’s documentary film series continues this month with “Bobby Fischer Against the World” on Monday, February 10 at 7 p.m. and “Good Ol’ Freda”, a film about the Beatles devoted secretary and friend, Freda Kelly, on Monday, February 24 at 7 p.m.
Isabellas Play
Roll Up! Roll Up! Come and see “P.T. Barnum – The Greatest Show on Earth!,” an original play written by Jude Mead, choreographed by Kristin Mudge, directed by Veronica Burns and Jude Mead and featuring the Isabella Players. The show will run from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11 at the Battell Chapel on the village green. Admission is free.
Land Trust Annual Meeting
The Norfolk Land Trust will host a presentation at the library by the Wolf Conservation Center of South Salem, NY and their Arctic gray wolf, Atka, immediately following the land trust’s annual meeting on Sunday, February 16 at 4 p.m. The public is invited to attend the event.
GMF’s Forest Lyceum Series
The Forest Lyceum Series continues on Saturday, February 8 with the “Braiding Sweetgrass” book talk and signing by Robin Kimmerer, Ph.D. at the Douglas Library in Canaan and a lecture on the Civilian Conservation Corps by Paul Barten, Ph.D. on Saturday, February 22 at the Hunt Library in Falls Village. Receptions are at 4 p.m. and the lectures begin at 4:30 p.m.
Library Concert
Michael Ford, a contemporary classical pianist and composer, will give a concert at the Norfolk Library on Saturday, February 22 at 4 p.m. Contact the library, 542-5075, for more information.
Deadline for Arts Scholarships
Completed applications for the Battell Arts Foundation Scholarships are due Tuesday, April 1. These scholarships are awarded twice a year to students from Norfolk and Colebrook for the purpose of enhancing their education in the visual and performing arts.
