Dr. Mary Beth Iacobelli has been appointed to replace Superintendent of School George Counter, who retired at the end of June, according to an announcement by the Norfolk Board of Education.

Dr. Iacobelli, who was superintendent of the East Haddam Public Schools from 2012 to 2014, has also served as an elementary school principal in New Britain and Meriden, Conn. She is certified in special education (K–12) and has worked extensively with special needs children.

Among Dr. Iacobelli’s first duties when she arrives at Botelle this month will be to choose a new principal for the school.
