Fire Department Receives Life-Saving Equipment

Two complete kits of life-saving equipment have been donated to the Norfolk Volunteer Fire Department by the Auxiliary for Community Health in Winsted. Each kit includes a defibrillator, oxygen therapy, immobilization collars and various bandages as well as blood pressure cuffs and stethoscopes. The kits will be placed on two fire vehicles in order to be used at emergency scenes or at the firehouse.

Norfolk Fire Chief Matthew Ludwig was thankful for the donation saying, “Receiving over $3000 worth of life-saving equipment is invaluable for our department, the citizens we serve and our own members. Let’s hope that we don’t have to use it.”

Newly elected EMS Captain Dan Wuori was able to secure the grant, and thanked the Auxiliary for their hard work and dedication. “The Auxiliary for Community Health made the overall grant process simple and without their donation, we would have had to delay the purchase of equipment that may help save a member’s life one day.”

The Auxiliary for Community Health operates the Thrift Shop located at 120 Willow Street in Winsted. According to Milly Hudak, Auxiliary President, “All donations are appreciated and every penny taken in goes right back into our community.”
