Norfolk Church Receives Grant

The Congregational Church of Christ in Norfolk has received a $1,500 grant from the Community Foundation of Northwest Connecticut.

The money will go into a discretionary fund, according to the Rev. Erick Olsen, the church’s pastor, and be used to restock the shelves of the Norfolk Food Pantry, housed in Battell Chapel. The grant will also allow Olsen to help local families pay their rent and their fuel oil, electric and auto repair bills.

While the church focuses on helping Norfolk residents, it also receives applications from Winsted, Canaan, Colebrook and Torrington. People often tell Olsen that the Church of Christ is one of the few places where they can get the help they need. “Grants like this go a long way in making such support possible,” said Olsen.

The grant was made possible by the Marion Williams and Alice Edward Fund, and by the Draper Foundation Fund.
