Botelle Beat—June 2015
by Matt O’Connell
The Botelle sixth graders enjoyed a four-day trip to Cape Cod during the first week in May that included a whale watch, and visits to Nauset Lighthouse, Coast Guard Beach, Monument to Our Forefathers and Plimoth Plantation. In addition, they explored a Coast Guard base, the Coast Guard Heritage Museum, and the Massachusetts Maritime Academy.
Kindergarten to third grade will take a field trip to the Beardsley Zoo on June 4, and the fourth and fifth grades will take a trip to Sturbridge Village on May 22. The fifth grade celebrated Colonial History Day on May 27, and Reading and Writing Celebration Week will begin on June 1 and end with an author visit on June 5. Field Day will take place on Tuesday, June 9, and the annual sixth grade promotion night is on Tuesday, June 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. The Norfolk After School Program had another successful year with 12 different classes offered. Week-long topics ranged from learning to play Scrabble, to jewelry making, to making movies with iPads. This program is staffed by volunteer instructors from the Norfolk community, as well as within the school community. Without such dedicated volunteers, Botelle School would not be able to offer this enrichment programming. |
