Selectmen’s Corner—August 2015
By Sue Dyer
We hope everyone is enjoying their summer. Anyone who has recently climbed aboard the wooden train by Station Place will have noticed the fine shape it’s in. The town’s Public Works Department took on the project of refurbishing it during the wet weather this spring. They dismantled it in the back of the town garage, made new pieces, re-assembled the parts and gave it a fresh coat of paint.
The Town of Norfolk received official notification on July 29 that the State Board of Education had formally approved the plan to consolidate the Norfolk and Colebrook elementary schools. There will be two public presentations: in Norfolk, on Monday, August 10 at 7 p.m. at the Botelle School; and in Colebrook, on Tuesday, August 112 at 7 p.m. at the Colebrook Consolidated School. Copies of the plan are available in the town clerk’s office and on the town website.
It’s far too soon to think about winter, but it will be coming. Beginning in August the selectmen’s office will be accepting applications for fuel assistance. Please contact 860-542-5829 for further information.
