Hugh deManbey
July 13, 1959 – July 28, 2015
The deManbey family regretfully announces the passing of Hugh deManbey on July 28. He was born on July 13, 1959, and grew up with his parents, Lyndsay and Claire, and six siblings on Litchfield Road. He attended Botelle Elementary School, Indian Mountain School, Cranwell School, in Lenox, Mass., and Portsmith Abbey, in Rhode Island. He also attended Saint Michael’s College, in Vermont, and Central Connecticut University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and met his wife, Tina.
Hugh deManbey settled down and raised a family in Sandisfield, Mass., where he lived for the last 25 years of his life, but he always talked of Norfolk as his hometown. Over the years, he became a skilled carpenter, working on the rejuvenation of many older homes and churches in Norfolk and the surrounding towns. He took great pride in his work and always tried to provide quality craftsmanship.
He is survived by his brothers, David and Daniel, and his sisters, Corky and Mary deManbey, Diane Duebber and Donna Boynton, as well as by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Hugh and Tina deManbey were married for 27 years. He was the father of seven children: Hope, Cassandra, Samantha, William, Christian, Lyndsay and Maria. He became the grandfather of baby girl, Camilla, in June. He was a loving husband and father and will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 29, at noon, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Norfolk. Following the memorial and burial services, there will be a reception in the church hall. All are welcome to attend.
