Residents of Norfolk and Colebrook will vote simultaneously on whether or not the elementary schools of Norfolk and Colebrook should consolidate into a regional school district. Voting in Norfolk will take place Tuesday, September 22, 2015, from 6:00 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Norfolk/Colebrook School Study Committee has been meeting for three years and had several public presentations during that time. Now that the State Board of Education has approved the plan, it is time for the townspeople of Norfolk and Colebrook to decide whether or not they would like to see the plan go into effect. The question on the ballot will be “Shall a Regional School District be established in accordance with the plan approved by the State Board of Education on July 1, 2015?” A “yes” vote is for approval, and a “no” vote is for disapproval. The referendum is open to all registered voters in the Town of Norfolk and to property owners who are not registered voters but own property that is assessed at more than $1,000. Applications for absentee ballots are available by contacting the town clerk’s office, 860-542-5679.
