Heartfelt Thanks
Only in Norfolk can you feel the arms of a whole town around you in a time of sorrow.
Only in Norfolk can you make one call to the Selectman’s Office and say, “We need that burial plot,” and not have to think about it again. And later, when there is a question as to where to put the headstone, only in Norfolk will the first selectman go to the cemetery personally to measure the correct spot.
Only in Norfolk can you call the funeral home and have everything handled with the care of a family member, even though you’re not related, and have the director meet you at odd hours to help you choose just the right prayer cards.
Only in Norfolk will people stand in line outdoors to pay their respects to a neighbor and friend for hours, many of them having just strolled there from their homes.
Only in Norfolk will you receive a call from the pastor of a church where you are not a member to let you know that his congregation is praying for you and offering help in any way they can.
Only in Norfolk will a next-door neighbor arrange a cheer-up visit with a former, long-lost coworker after a long week of tears and funeral arrangements.
There were many other acts of kindness, too numerous to list here, but only in Norfolk will people flood you with care, concern, cards and love the way our family was cared for following Carl’s passing. Our heartfelt thanks to you, Norfolk. We couldn’t have gotten through this without you.

Car Show a Success
The Third Annual Norfolk Car Show was a great success, with almost 60 cars, and funds raised in excess of $5,400. These monies will be divided between The Lions Club Ambulance Fund and the Norfolk Volunteer Fire Department (NVFD).
The show would not have been such a success without the generous sponsorship of National Iron Bank and the 36 other local businesses that helped support the show. I would like to extend a thank you to Ann Decerbo and Reagan Bastianello, the creative team at Ml Integrated Media for their creative talents used in all areas of displays, posters and forms; to Colleen Gundlach for her creative writing skills and help in publicity; and to Jill Hall, who also helped to keep the word out there on the event.
Special thanks go to my team, consisting of Justin Spring (amazing raffle table), Matt Bannerman, Wilbur Couch, Tim Hitchcock and West Lowe; to the team members from the Lions Club including Susanne Funchion, John Funchion, Keith Harvill, Matt Riiska and Grant Mudge; and to NVFD member Robin Denny. Thanks also to Hartley Mead and Heather Thompson for parking cars, to Libby Borden and the Economic Development Commission for financial support, and last but not least to the car enthusiasts and spectators who made the event a resounding success. Let’s do it again next year!
