Town Map Reissued
The second edition of the Norfolk Map & Guide was just issued in mid-April, with updated businesses on the map side and a few information updates on the guide side. Copies are available around town.
More than 20,000 brochures of the first edition were taken from racks and displays last year by prospective visitors. Based on that success, Norfolk Map committee members decided to follow up this year with a second print edition and expand distribution to more AAA locations in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, and to Columbia County and the Greater Albany area. The tri-state corners’ (southeastern New York, northwestern Conn. and southwestern Mass.) AAA offices will see repeat distribution.
As a third stage, possibly next year, committee members intend to put the map and information on the Internet, adding more photos and information about the town, and the ability to update business information quickly. This stage will significantly reduce costs.
The map image is currently posted at www.weekendinnorfolk.org/visitors-map-of-norfolk/, without the overlay showing businesses. The map committee hopes to coordinate its work with the town and any other groups that are also putting together information to promote Norfolk.
Committee members are Hans Carlson, Bella Erder, Sue Frisch and James Nelson. Pete Anderson and Richard Byrne were members of the original group that produced the first version last year. The map’s stated purpose is to put together and circulate information that will attract more visitors to Norfolk and its businesses…and to interest some of those visitors in buying property and becoming part of this community.
