Men’s Tournament at Norfolk Curling Club
The Norfolk Curling Club will hold its Calder Trophy Men’s Bonspiel from Dec. 1 to 4. Teams from all along the east coast will compete in this event. Spectators are welcome. For more information, visit www.norfolkcurlingclub.org.
Wreath-Making Workshops at GMF
Come make a beautiful wreath with freshly cut greens, cones, berries and ribbon. There is an adult session on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 9 a.m. to noon, followed by a family session from 1 to 4 p.m. There is another adult session on Sunday, Dec. 4, from 1 to 4 p.m. Fees: $35 per person, $50 per family. Norfolk Holiday Farmers Market
The annual Holiday Farmers Market, with its ample array of locally grown foods and craft works by local artisans, will be held at Battell Chapel, 12 Litchfield Road, Norfolk, on Saturday, December 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., immediately following the fire department’s Breakfast with Santa. Live music. Lunch will be available downstairs, catered by the Colebrook Country Store.
Hands-Only CPR Demonstration and Teach-In
Norfolk Lions Club Ambulance will teach Hands-Only CPR at the Norfolk Farmers Market on Dec. 3, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. NLCA volunteers will teach you how to perform effective compressions in five minutes.
Curling Club Offers Introductory Sessions
The Norfolk Curling Club will conduct two Learn to Curl clinics on December 10 and December 17 from 2 to 4 p.m. Participants should wear warm, loose-fitting clothing and bring a pair of clean rubber-soled shoes to wear on the ice. Holiday Shopping in Downtown Norfolk
On Sunday, Dec. 11, downtown Norfolk will usher in the holiday season with a day of shopping, dining and special events. From 3 to 5 p.m., the Norfolk/Colebrook Boy Scout Troop will be selling Christmas trees, the Susan B. Anthony Project from Torrington will be selling wreaths, and the Church of Christ choir will be singing Christmas carols. The Berkshire Country Store will be open for tours from noon to 5 p.m. Aija, the Artisans Guild, Ruth Olsson Interior Arts, Joe Stannard Antiques and Sigma Design Studio will all be open all day for holiday shopping.
Mosaic Trio Benefit Concert
The Mosaic Trio will present a concert on Dec. 18 at 2 p.m. in Norfolk ’s Battell Chapel. The trio features Lu Sun on violin, Pat Daly Vance on viola and Peter Zay on cello. The group will perform pieces by Bach, Schubert and Beethoven. The concert is sponsored by a grant to the Battell Arts Foundation, and ticket proceeds will benefit the Battell Chapel Windows Project. Once Upon a Time: Fairy Tales from the Brothers Grimm and Roald Dahl
Ben Luxon and members of the Sandisfield Players, young and old, present classic fairy tales from around the world at the Norfolk Library on Sunday, Dec. 18, at 4 p.m. It’s a magical world of kings and queens, princesses, evil stepmothers, heroes and talking animals, as the tales of the Brothers Grimm and Roald Dahl are brought to life in this enchanting holiday performance. The event is free, but donations to the Norfolk Library’s children’s programs are welcome. Reservations are requested. Register online or by calling the Library at 860-542-5075.
Norfolk Land Trust Annual Meeting and Author Talk
William Stolzenburg, author of “Heart of a Lion,” will give a presentation at the Norfolk Land Trust’s annual meeting at 3 p.m., on Sat., Feb. 4 at the Norfolk Library. The public is invited to attend. Using images, film and firsthand accounts, Stolzenburg chronicles the journey of a young mountain lion that traveled 2,000 miles only to die tragically on a Connecticut highway. Knitting Group at the Library
Join the Norfolk knitters to help us knit or crochet hats, scarves or mittens for the less fortunate. We’ll meet in the library every Friday afternoon, from 3:30 to 5 p.m., from now to Christmas.
