Selectmen’s Corner

Household Hazardous Waste Day will be held on Saturday, June 3 in Falls Village at the highway garage from 9 until noon. This is your opportunity to get rid of old paints, stains, turpentine cans, pesticides, herbicides, household cleaners and hobby supplies. Propane tanks from gas grills will also be accepted at no charge.

Residents are encouraged to look for containers that are no longer needed and marked with warning labels such as toxic, flammable, reactive or corrosive. If you are bringing paint products, please put all paints, stains, primers, sealers and varnishes in a separate box for special handling.

To participate, you must register and get a ticket from Town Hall in Norfolk by Friday, June 2. Contact the selectmen’s office at 860-542-5829.

This month, the Town of Norfolk is sponsoring a Mental Health First Aid Course. The course is eight hours long and will be given over two days: Wednesday, June 21 and Wednesday, June 28, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Town Hall. If you are interested in registering, please contact the selectmen’s office.

And don’t forget that June is the month for town permits and licenses. Tobey Pond stickers, transfer station stickers, bulky waste tickets and dog licenses are all available from the town clerk’s office starting June 1.
