Award-Winning Engine 90 Rolls Into Retirement

One of the NVFD’s prides and joys, Engine 90, is officially being retired this fall. Engine 90’s exterior has been meticulously maintained over the past 32 years, winning numerous awards from around the state. The town and department are currently deciding whether to donate or sell the 32-year-old apparatus that can no longer be utilized as a fire truck due to internal mechanical shortfalls and lack of replacement parts available due to its age.

The NVFD is set to receive their new pumper this fall, which they began formally requesting in 2014. “Getting a new truck certainly brings morale up,” says Chief Ludwig. “It’s like having a new kid in the family. The department is incredibly grateful to the residents of Norfolk for approving this much needed purchase.”
