Selectman’s Corner: Happy New Year!

Here are some reminders for January to keep in the back of your mind. The second half of your real estate taxes are due this month and must be paid by February 1, 2007.

If your car registration is coming due and you have a Post Office Box, please remember to change your mailing address with the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Our Probate Court has now been merged into one court with the towns of Canaan, Cornwall, Falls Village, Norfolk, Salisbury and Sharon, effective January 1, 2007. The Honorable Charles C. Vail will be the Judge for this court which is located in the North Canaan Town Hall at 100 Pease Street. The court office hours are Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

At this time, I think it only appropriate to extend our appreciation to our retiring judge, the Honorable Linda F. Riiska. Since 1995, Linda has served as Norfolk’s Judge of Probate and her dedication to the job and her consummate service to the residents of Norfolk has been truly valued. We wish her the best of luck in her new endeavors.

If you are a senior citizen, or disabled, and need a ride, the Town of Norfolk in conjunction with the Northwest Connecticut Transit District provides a Dial-A-Ride Service door-to-door, to take you shopping, to medical appointments, banking or to visit a friend in another town. To make a reservation, please call 489-2535.
