Norfolk Firemen Conduct Winter Rescue Drill
The Norfolk Volunteer Fire Department has never had to rescue anyone who has fallen through the ice, although firemen have suited up several times helping to extricate partially submerged vehicles in freezing water. All the same, members of the department, as seen here at the edge of Wood Creek Pond, routinely practice suiting up and rescuing one another from holes in the ice using special roping techniques.
