Candidates Chosen To Run For Town Government in November

The names are in for the upcoming November 6 town elections, when we will all get the opportunity to try out the new voting machines. Both Democrats and Republicans have held their caucuses and have come up with their list of candidates. The next step will be for the Registrars of Voters to decide on the order in which the names will appear on their party’s ballot.
While many of the candidates are familiar and up for re-election, there are a few new names in the mix.
First Selectman Sue Dyer has been endorsed on the Democratic ticket. Opposing her on the Republican side is Phylis Bernard. Democrat Leo Colwell, Jr. will be running again as a member of the Board of Selectmen, as will Republican Jim Stotler, Sr.
Chelsea Byrne and Eleanor Laforge will run unopposed as Town Treasurer and Tax Collector respectively.
Two Republicans who will try for the Board of Finance are David Torrey and Michael Langendoerfer. The Democratic candidates are Suzanne Hinman and Keith Harvill, with Karen Sebach as an Alternate. The Republican Alternate is Nina Ritson.
Democrats Edward Lockwood and Joseph Green have been endorsed for the Board of Education, along with Donna Rubin and Sally Carr. Republican nominees are Lisa Bazzano, Donna Rubin and Jill Hall.
Libby Borden is the Democratic candidate for the Board of Assessment Appeals and for the Republican Party, Heather Thomson.
Having retired earlier this year as Norfolk’s Chief Zoning Enforcement Officer, Carl Gundlach has been endorsed by the Republicans for the Zoning Board of Appeals, in addition to Ronald Zanobi and Mary Bazzano. Daniel Green and David Potter are the candidates for the Democrats,
For the office of Zoning Board of Appeals Alternates, the Republicans have endorsed Frank Trager and Alan Boucher, while the Democratic candidate will be Buzz Peacock.
Michelle Sloane is a Republican/Democratic nominee for the Planning and Zoning Commission with Lloyd Garrison, a Democrat. Betsy Little is endorsed by the Democrats as an Alternate.
