SINGER’S DELIGHT
Chorus Angelicus, the premier children’s choral program located in Torrington, CT is always looking for skillful singers. New member auditions will continue throughout the summer and are open to any child in grades 4 to 12. Younger singers, kindergarten through 5th grade, may join the Training Choirs without an audition. Chorus Angelicus creates an inspiring network of lifelong friendships and encourages the highest caliber of musicianship. NORFOLK LIONS CLUB MUM SALE
Add some color to your fall garden with chrysanthemums from the Lions Club’s annual mum sale. It will be held on Saturday, September 15, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the Robertson Fountain on Station Place. The Lions Club supports the Norfolk Volunteer Ambulance and various community projects.
NORFOLK FIRE DEPARTMENT’S FIRST ANNUAL OUTING
On September 22, from 12 to 5 p.m., the Norfolk Volunteer Fire department will be hosting its first family day at Masser Park. The fee is $30 per person. Children under 12 are free. A meal of beef, pork, chili, fish chowder, clams (raw & steamed), salads, soda, and coffee will be served. ( BYOB) There will be fun for the whole family. IT’S SOCCER TIME
If you want to bend it like Beckham, this program is for you. The Norfolk Recreation committee runs a soccer program during the fall months. The program is open to any Norfolk child, entering pre-K through 6th grade. Fee is $20 for first child and $15 for each additional child in the same family. Scholarships are available. BE AWARE, BE HEALTHY
There is a huge concern these days about food, diet, nutrition, obesity and health, so it is important that we embrace new, creative thinking about these topics. The Library will be the scene of a series of informative documentaries and entertaining talks focusing on issues of health. Launching the program in September will be Eileen Fitzgibbons, Darla Lovett and Jude Mead, all certified Health Counselors of Columbia University and the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York City. In October, film producer Debra Longo will present her documentary,
Racing against the Clock, The series will also feature other films and lectures. For more information call the library at 542 5075.
ARTISTS OF THE MONTH
The Norfolk Artisans Guild will host a reception on September 2, from 1 to 3 p.m. for guest artists Sue Hall and Carol Eaton. Hall, a former elementary school teacher at Botelle, will be exhibiting vests, silk scarves, and bags. Eaton is a jewelry maker. Refreshments will be served. The Guild is located on Greenwoods Road and may be reached at 542-5487.
HOMECOMING
Come celebrate Homecoming Day on Friday September 28 at Northwestern Regional 7. Starting at 3 p.m., the high school fields will feature the field hockey, cross-country, and JV soccer teams competing against rival schools. The volleyball team will be in the gym. After the parade of floats, the lights will illuminate the playing fields for the varsity girls’ and boys’ soccer games. Chili, hot-dogs, drinks and snacks will be available throughout the event. Join the fun, and cheer on our local teams!
