Development of New Town Plan Gets Underway
Officials Soon To Begin Meetings
There will be an introductory meeting for town officials on September 20, with consultant Glenn Chalder of Planimetrics, the Avon-based company hired to help in the creation of a new town plan for Norfolk.
At this meeting, Chalder will get to know the players, and major topics, such as Norfolk’s natural resources, economic and cultural development, the town’s changing demographic, will be established. As with any Planning and Zoning (P&Z) meeting, the public are welcome to attend and listen, but will not be active participants.
That should change on October 20 however, when a town-wide meeting is scheduled to take place (possibly at Botelle’s Hall of Flags), so sharpen your pencils. “This will be the opportunity for the townsfolk to help us understand how they see Norfolk’s future,” says West Lowe, chairman of the P&Z. “We hope they can tell us what they are proud of in Norfolk, what issues we need to focus on and maybe improve. What should be changed or, for that matter, not changed.”
Attendees at this meeting may well get some homework assignments, so be prepared. “It’s all part of the process,” says Lowe, “it should be lively and involved. The door will be open for new ideas. I’m looking forward to it.”
