Summer Rules!
By Matt Riiska
Summer is here and, as cold as it was this winter, it is time for payback. The lazy, hazy days of summer are upon us. We can all take refuge at Tobey Pond, but we need to follow the rules. The town is fortunate in being able to lease this beautiful place from Great Mountain Forest on a yearly basis. This will continue as long as everyone remembers, “if the gate is closed – Tobey Pond is closed”. No early morning swims and no after hours dips. Please respect the rules and we will all enjoy our summer.
The Planning & Zoning Commission (P&Z) is working with the consulting firm Planimetrics on the Town Plan, also known as the Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD). This plan, which is mandated by the state, will help guide the town in the direction we want to take for the next 10 years. In addition to the Town Plan, the P&Z is working with the landscape architecture firm of Dodson & Flinker on a “charrette” or a collaborative vision on the development of the village center. We are asking everyone to stop in at the Hub during the Weekend in Norfolk event on August 3, 4 & 5 to review the concepts and notes, and to add your ideas.
Summers seem to be getting shorter and shorter so get out and enjoy it.
