Town’s Annual Car Show Was a Huge Benefit and a Day of Fun
Norfolk’s emergency services groups drive away with $6,700

The weather cooperated beautifully for the sixth annual Norfolk Classic Car Show and the grounds of the Yale Music Shed were filled with exhibitors and more than 200 spectators. There were food vendors, raffle prizes and live music all afternoon provided by Andy Stiles and the High Octaines. A total of 63 vintage vehicles were on display on September 15, twelve of which were owned by Norfolk residents.
The first prize in the judging of the vehicles was awarded to Norfolk’s own Jody Bronson for his 1958 Green Willy Jeep – complete with canoe on top! He was awarded a basket donated by Norbrook Brewery, containing a t-shirt, sweatshirt, cap, growler and gift certificate with a value of $100.
Taking away the second place prize of $50 was Jim Cavanaugh of Great Barrington, Mass. with his 1946 black Chevy Fleetmaster.
The third place, $25 prize, went to Dick and Maggie Coleman from Bristol, Conn. for their1962 Red Chevy wagon with its1948 modernistic Teardrop aluminum camper.
The big winners of the day, however, were the emergency services groups in Norfolk. The car show, organized by the Norfolk Economic Development Committee and sponsored by National Iron Bank and M.I. Integrated Media, raised a total of $6,700, which was distributed between the Norfolk Lions Ambulance Association and the Norfolk Volunteer Fire Department.
Event chairman Marie Lowe is already planning next year’s Classic Car Show, set for September 14, 2019, same time, same place, so mark your calendars.
