Obituary—Remembering John Bazzano

 

John Concetto Bazzano passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018. He was the husband of Dorothy (Robertson) Bazzano.

John was born on Feb. 19, 1933, the son of the late John and Angeline Bazzano. John served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955. His parents started their family business, John C. Bazzano & Son, in 1935. He joined the family business in 1955 and retired in 1994.

He was a past member of the Norfolk Lions Club, Norfolk Fire Department, the Norfolk Ambulance and was a long time communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church. He had a winter home in Florida and spent summers with his family in Norfolk.

Besides his wife of 58 years, Dorothy, he is survived by his six children, Carolyn (Buzz) Peacock (Jim), John Bazzano (Lisa), Dorothy Bazzano (Howard), Elizabeth Peterson (Bob), Margaret Alexon (Paul) and Mary Reeve (Scott). He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his two sisters, Josephine Tierney and Dolly Turgeon; a brother, Carmen; and a grandaughter, Amanda Alexson.

A memorial Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, Nov. 28, at 11 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church. Honorary pallbearers were John P. Bazzano, James Peacock, Howard Crunden, Bob Peterson, Paul Alexson and Scott Reeve. Burial is private.

The Kenny Funeral Home had care of arrangements.
