Preparing the Beds at Botelle Garden

The Norfolk After School Program invites Norfolk residents to a Community Garden Cleanup on the afternoons of April 10 to 12, from 3:40-4:30 p.m., in the garden at Botelle School. Come join in on preparing the gardens for a fruitful season! Donna Pequignot, Botelle’s school nurse and healthy eating advocate, will guide participants in cleaning up and preparing the gardens for planting. “We have funds to get it up and going, but we need manpower,” says Ms. Pequignot. She has over 30 packets of seeds for horizontal and vertical planting ready to go, but the beds need prep work first. After the April cleanup days, May events for planting and summer maintenance will be scheduled. Also, donations such as compost, hay, benches and planters are appreciated. Since it is a community garden, individuals and groups can have their own beds and involve Botelle classes in the gardening process. Direct any questions to Ms. Pequignot at pequignotd@botelleschool.org.
