The 41st running of the Annual Memorial Day 5-Mile Road Race was won this year by Casey Smith, 38, of Torrington, in a time of 31 minutes 53 seconds. He can be seen in the photo above wearing bib No. 109 and consulting his watch. Smith led the second-place finisher, Robert. Dwyer, 38, of Norfolk, by 43 seconds. The first-place female finisher was Sherri Odell, 34, of Litchfield, in a time of 35 minutes.

The race is organized by the Norfolk Volunteer Fire Department, and the proceeds go to the William F. Kelley Memorial scholarship fund.
