Each year, the Norfolk Volunteer Fire Department (NVFD) awards scholarships to local students, with funds raised by the annual Memorial Day Road Race. This year they were able to award $500 to seven graduating high school seniors, $500 to four college students and one $1,000 to Caroline Crone who was Valedictorian of her class. The 2019 scholarship recipients are Rihiannya Byrne, Sarah Allyn, Eleanor Olsen, Lillianna McGrath, Casey Ludwig, Maria Hester, Morgan Hall, Madison Hall, Spencer Green, Caroline Crone, Jake Green and Linden Wilson.
