New Date for Purse Bingo 

Because of the social distancing directives initiated in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the designer purse bingo sponsored by the ICC Catholic Women’s Club to benefit the St. Martin of Tours Parish, which was originally scheduled for May 16, 2020, has been canceled. The new date for the event is Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020. Tickets purchased for the May event will be honored for the October date. Anyone seeking a refund for their May 16 tickets may do so by contacting Sally O’Brien at 860-307-0173 or salerino@comcast.net.

Lions Club Scholarships

This year the Norfolk Lions Club is once again offering scholarships for incoming college freshmen who are residents of Norfolk. If you are interested, please email Angela Bollard, at abollard@comcast.net. All applications will be handled via email. Deadline is May 31.

NVFD Open House and Road Race Canceled

The Norfolk Volunteer Fire Department is canceling its open house on Memorial Day as well as the annual Five-Mile Road Race. Because the road race proceeds are used to fund scholarships, the NVFD will be sending out an appeal for donations for scholarships. More details to come.

Invasive Plant Removal

Because of uncertainty around the coronavirus and how long restrictions on public gatherings will last, the Conservation Commission has decided not to hold its invasive plant exchange this June. That said, the commission suggests that invasive plant removal is a great way to get some exercise while maintaining social distance. The garlic mustard is up, and the barberry is turning green. Uproot!

Getting Creative at Home

Leslie Watkins has moved her “in person” art classes to monthly online classes for both watercolor painting and paper crafting. Classes are announced the first day of the month, with one week to register. Complete kits are sent to your mailbox via priority mail. Links to class videos are sent via email. All levels welcome.
