Library Resumes Lending
On June 1, the Norfolk Library will begin offering curbside pickup of books, audiobooks, and DVDs by appointment. Please call the library at 860-542-5075 for details and to make an appointment. Library materials should be returned in the book drop.
Lions Club Scholarships
This year the Norfolk Lions Club is once again offering scholarships for incoming college freshmen who are residents of Norfolk. If you are interested, please email Angela Bollard, at abollard@comcast.net. All applications will be handled via email. Deadline is June 30.
The American Mural Project Offers Summer Course and Internships
AMP will offer two weeks of Outdoor Design & Building instruction for youth ages 10–16, and a two-week Digital Story Work internship program for young adults ages 17 and older, from July 27–Aug. 7, with limited enrollment of 4–6 participants per week. The programs will take place on AMP’s campus, 90 Whiting Street, Winsted, Connecticut. Full program details, schedules, ages, costs, and registration at americanmuralproject.org/summer.
Free Thermometers and Surgical Masks for Small Businesses
Free thermometers for workplace screening and surgical masks are available to essential small businesses, places of worship and nonprofits. To apply, visit the ctcovidresponse.org website. The supplies will be distributed to eligible organizations through the Town of Norfolk’s Office of Emergency Management.
Long Term Recovery Committee Forming
Governor Lamont has urged that all communities create a Long-Term Recovery Committee that “will help meet urgent needs, accelerate recovery and expedite coordination with the state’s emergency management structure in the ongoing response and recovery efforts from the Covid-19 pandemic.” More information about a local committee will be forthcoming.
Sign Up for State of Connecticut Emergency Texts
Norfolk’s Office of Emergency Management wants you to know that Governor Lamont is encouraging folks to sign up for CT Alert, an emergency notification system that sends out text messages from state officials.
