Warm Heads, Warm Hearts

Thanks to the generosity of John Thew and the nimble fingers of the Norfolk Library knitters, there will be more warm heads this winter. Last month the knitters heard about a project, called Warm Heads, Warm Hearts, being organized by Amanda Barcenas, who owns Prado de Lana, a sheep farm and yarn shop in Stockbridge. The idea was to knit hats for people in need before winter arrives. To jump-start the project, knitwear designer Whitney Hayward was providing a simple pattern for a watch cap in a wide range of sizes. Serendipitously, that same week the Norfolk knitters received from John Thew a big bag of leftover wool yarn that his late wife, Eve, used to make her dolls. Wool + pattern + knitters = a bag of about two dozen hats for Barcenas to distribute through local schools.
