Gregg Currier, 1942-2020
Gregg Currier, age 77, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Nov. 14 from pancreatic cancer. He was born on Dec. 14, 1942, to the late Charles Currier and Eleanore Coullard. He served in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1969. After his service, he earned a B.S. degree in earth science from Southern Connecticut State College. He was employed for 35 years as a chemist for Connecticut Hard Rubber and later for Saint-Gobain as a product developer.
Norfolk became his home and, as an avid collector, the inspiration for his postcard collection. He was a member of the Norfolk Historical Society, to which he donated his impressive collection of Norfolk postcards.
Gregg was a nature lover and enjoyed spending time in his Zen garden overlooking Wood Creek pond. He looked forward to Tuesday trivia nights at the pub and enjoyed playing horseshoes at MJ Tucker’s in Sandisfield, Mass., where he played in a league for many years.
He is survived by his loving wife Donna, daughter Robin LaBianco and son-in-law Scott LaBianco of Sandy Hook, son Gregg Currier of Norfolk, daughter Ellen Currier of Bridgeport, grandchildren James and Sarah LaBianco, stepmother Clare Currier of Vineyard Haven, Mass., brother Paul Currier of Martha’s Vineyard, and sisters Joanne Coach of Manchester, Anita Dziedzic of Glastonbury and Diane Vaughn of Aberdeen, N.C.
A celebration of life will be at a later date.
