Annual Library Book Sale to Go Ahead

Although plans are still fluid, the Norfolk Library Associates are moving forward with their annual summer book sale, which was canceled in 2020 owing to the pandemic. The book sale will take place Aug. 27-29. There will be no gala event to kick off the sale; instead, that Friday will be used to give customers additional time to browse and buy books. All materials will be outside, including the books of better value. According to Ann Havemeyer, director of the library, the associates hope to have more tents this year to create space and accommodate two years worth of books. The library began accepting book donations again last summer, and associates have been volunteering in the library basement to organize and prepare the books for the sale. Anyone who would like to donate books to the library can schedule a drop-off time between 9 and 10 a.m., Monday through Friday, by calling the circulation desk at 860-542-5075. All book donations must be in boxes. Bags of books will not be accepted.
