Tree Removal to Continue
Timber harvest W-445 at Haystack Mountain State Park is scheduled for this fall and winter, pending suitable ground conditions. The harvest will remove dead and dying ash trees impacted by the non-native Emerald Ash Borer insect. Additional tree species will also be removed to facilitate ash removals, remove poor-quality stems and hazard trees, and to release the crowns of desirable trees, giving them more sunlight for better growth. Please adhere to any on-site notices of trail/road closures during the harvest to maintain public safety while equipment and crews are working. For additional information, please contact State Lands Forester

Land Trust Extends Extra Thanks
On behalf of the Norfolk Land Trust’s Trail Race Committee, we would like to thank everyone who made our 8th annual 5K/10K race and our first-ever half marathon on Oct. 2 a huge success. We had almost 100 runners register for the races and everyone was impressed, not only with land trust trails, but also with event volunteers. We are especially grateful for the dedicated volunteers with the Norfolk Lions Club Ambulance and the Norfolk Volunteer Fire Department for keeping everyone safe and helping to make the race run smoothly.
