Keep those cans coming! The “big blue bin” fundraiser at the transfer station has already brought in over $650 in five-cent increments from the thousands of cans residents have left in the special collection bin beside the recycle dumpster. Botelle School PTO volunteer Marinell Crippen and her son, sixth grader Rex Crippen (shown here with dad), are spearheading the project, which will support the class trip to Nature’s Classroom in Andover, Conn. Says Marinell, “People have been great about putting clean cans in there.” She also sends “big thanks to Jim at the transfer station. He is super supportive!” As a reminder, any soda, beer, water or other glass, plastic or metal bottles and cans with a “CT 5Cent” deposit label are accepted. The fundraiser continues through spring.
