Thank You to NN
Letter to the Editor
I’m writing in appreciation for all you do to help those of us who grew up in Norfolk see how wonderfully the town is growing for and for keeping us in touch with our beloved town.
I am the third generation of the John Woods family that lived on Litchfield Road on the corner of Westside Road. My grandparents, father, uncle, brother, sister and myself lived there and graduated from the Norfolk Center School.
Norfolk Now reminds us of wonderful memories. The exciting things being done with City Meadow were in the early stages planning with my dad.
We all learned our winter sports in Norfolk: curling with the teenagers at the newly opened Curling Club, ice skating at Haystack and the town rink, which my dad helped to develop, skiing at the rope tows at the Byrnes and Childs properties. My grandfather, a hardy Swede, took me to the downhill events on Canaan Road and the slalom meets on the back of Haystack. Of course, we learned to swim at Tobey Pond. We babysat and took youth classes at the Yale Art and Music School and attended both churches.
Thank you to everyone for all you do to help keep Norfolk the beautiful place it is, and to Norfolk Now for all you do to keep us part of the town.
Laurel Ann (Woods) Carter
