John Coston Appointed New Editor of the Lakeville Journal
John Coston, a member of the Norfolk Now Board of Directors, has been appointed as the new editor of The Lakeville Journal. Coston is a veteran newspaper editor, having had experience on small and metro dailies as well as a national newspaper over the course of his career. He has also authored two nonfiction books.
Coston covered international news and markets and is a former news editor on the national desk at The Wall Street Journal. Since his retirement from that paper in 2015, Coston has been spending time in the Northwest Corner for almost 40 years. He is married to Bridget Taylor, and the couple lives on a farm in East Canaan where they raise sheep.
As he takes on this new challenge, Coston says he is committed to community journalism. “It’s getting harder and harder to learn about what’s going on in the community,” he said, and cites the Journal as being an important source of disseminating local information. The Lakeville Journal, established in 1897, is currently celebrating its 125th year of publication
