Dog Park
Letter to the Editor
I was surprised that a letter was published in April’s issue claiming that the existence of a dog park in Norfolk is a moral issue. It is incredibly disrespectful to assume that anyone knows better how another resident ought to spend his hard-earned money. Furthermore, dogs are social animals, as any dog owner knows, because almost every dog is desirous of playing with any dog passing by. It would be a very good thing for a dog owner to know that there is a safely fenced-in area where his dog can be social, have one or more playmates and run around for good fun and exercise. A happy dog is usually a good dog. A dog park is an asset for a rural town; population is irrelevant. Furthermore, the idea that a dog park is indicative of urbanization is just silly.
