It Must Be Summer – The Farmers Market is OpenI

By MaryJo Tomaselli

The Norfolk Farmers Market will kick off its 17 th season on Saturday, June 3, on the
town hall lawn at 19 Maple Avenue. The market’s focus remains the same: To support
local farmers and artisans and to provide them with an outlet to sell their goods to the
community.
This year the market committee has taken stewardship of the community garden at
Botelle School and, along with FFA students from Regional 7 and volunteers, will be
offering a variety of fresh produce. All proceeds will benefit the market.
To enhance the market experience for vendors and customers, the steering committee
has scheduled live music every week along with monthly cooking demos, book signings
by local authors and expert gardening advice. Special events include Dog Day on June
24 and Kids’ Day during Weekend in Norfolk.
Throughout the season, the market committee will offer special fund raisers for the Food
Closet and will host community organizations such as the Lions Club, the Fire
Department, Volunteer Ambulance and local political parties.
All events are “rain or shine” and run from 10 a.m. through 1 p.m. every Saturday
through September 2, 2023.
