Yoga Nidra with Miranda Lee
Join mindfulness coach and yoga therapist Miranda Lee for an evening of relaxing mindful movement and soothing Yoga Nidra at the Norfolk Library on Thursday, Aug. 3, at 8 p.m. The evening will conclude with community time and refreshments. Blueberry Betty Under the Gazebo
Meadowbrook will host dessert and live music with Lisa Clark, Tim Hitchcock and Steve Roys under the gazebo on Saturday, Aug. 5, 3-4 p.m. 9 Shepard Road.

The Snowflake Man
Puppetry artist Sarah Frechette, director of Puppetkabob, will present “The Snowflake Man” on Saturday, Aug. 5, at 11 a.m., at the library. Audiences will be transported to the historic 1920s through creative storytelling, Czech-style marionettes and striking scenery. Ceremony for New Tanker
The Norfolk Volunteer Fire Department will hold a wet-down ceremony for the new tanker and announce the name of the new fire mascot at an open house on Saturday, Aug. 5, from 1 to 3 p.m. All are invited to the fire station at 20 Shepard Road. 

Community Drawing at the Art Barn
Draw with local enthusiasts and Yale Norfolk students and faculty on Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and Tuesday evenings, 7 to 9 p.m., through Aug. 26. Classes focus on life drawing with a model, and drawing materials and paper are provided. Classes are held on the second floor of the Art Barn.

Friday Nights on the Green
Join friends and neighbors Friday evenings (except Aug. 25) at 6 p.m. on the village green for community fun. There will be live music on Aug. 4, 8, 11 and 18 and a BBQ sponsored by the Norfolk Foundation on Aug. 11. Visit the events calendar at norfolkct.org for details.

Art Exhibit: Peter Coffeen
Photographs by Peter Coffeen will be on display at the Norfolk Library for the month of August. A reception for the artist will be held on Sunday, Aug. 6, from 4 to 6 p.m., hosted by the Library Associates.

Hula Hoops on the Library Lawn
Judi Ann “Energizer” Jones will be the grand finale performer of the library’s summer reading program on Monday, Aug. 7, at 6 p.m. There will be music, dance, hula hoops and cake.

Author Talk: Anne K. Howard
On Tuesday, Aug. 8, from 6 to 7 p.m., at the Hub, author and attorney Anne K. Howard will discuss “Escape from Mariupol: A Survivor’s True Story,” a nonfiction book co-written with Adoriana Marik, a Ukrainian refugee now living in Connecticut. Prima Ballerina Elizabeth Ferrell
The Colebrook Historical Society will host a presentation by prima ballerina Elizabeth Ferrell entitled “Dancing with De Mille” on Friday, Aug. 11, at 7 p.m., at the Seymour Inn in Colebrook. Annual Ted Byers Lecture
On Saturday, Aug. 12, at 4 p.m., the public is invited to the Doolittle Club House for a talk by Ginny Apple, Master Wildlife Conservationist, on the natural history of black bears in Connecticut. She will provide an overview of black bear habitat, diet, behavior and current research and will share black bear artifacts with the audience.

Party on the Plaza
Bring a chair and friends for a live band, food, drinks and more at Robertson Plaza in downtown Norfolk on Saturday, Aug. 26, from 3 to 5 p.m. Enjoy great music against the backdrop of City Meadow and Haystack Mountain, then stay and visit local businesses. Sponsored by the Norfolk Economic Development Commission.

Annual Library Book Sale
Browse an amazing collection of books at the Norfolk Library annual book sale on Saturday, Aug. 26, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, Aug. 27, from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. All books are free after 2 p.m. on Sunday. Proceeds benefit the Norfolk Library Associates and the library’s free cultural programs they fund.

City Meadow Sculpture Unveiling
The Norfolk Community Association welcomes all to attend the official unveiling of its first sculpture installation on Saturday, Sept. 2, at 2 p.m., on Robertson Plaza. Meet sculptor Jon Riedeman as he introduces his work, The Owl of Good Fortune, and enjoy the music of Michael Cobb.

Ambulance Rummage Sale Fundraiser
The Norfolk Lions Club Ambulance will hold a rummage sale fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 16, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the ambulance building on Shepard Road. Donation items for the sale can be dropped off on Sept. 15, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Haystack Mountain Trail Races
Run the scenic trails of Norfolk during the 10th annual Haystack Mountain Challenge trail races on Sunday, Oct. 1. The half-marathon, 10-K and 5-K all start at the Barbour Woods trailhead, 75 Lovers Lane. Registration is at RunSignup.com. Sponsored by the Norfolk Land Trust.

Save the date: Tour de Forest
The annual Tour de Forest fundraiser for Norfolk Rails to Trails will be held Saturday, Oct. 14. Register for a 13- or 30-mile ride through Norfolk and Great Mountain Forest at bikereg.com.
