U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal (right) met with Norfolk First Selectman Matt Riiska (center) on July 17 to appraise damage from the severe flooding of the previous week when South Norfolk received as much as 12 inches of rain in one 24-hour period. He toured two of the most heavily damaged flood sites along Route 272 in Norfolk, as well as the oil spill site. State Senator Lisa Seminara and State Representative Maria Horn also traveled to Norfolk to survey the flood damage, which includes the destruction of town bridges at Old Goshen Road and Smith Road.
