Norfolk Remembers: Elizabeth Ann (Poll) Leifert
Elizabeth A Leifert, 80, passed away March 28, 2024. She was the wife of 60 years of Lawrence A. Leifert. Born in Torrington on Feb. 3, 1944, she was the daughter of Armand and Katherine Killiany Poll and a graduate of the Hart School of Music. She worked for the State of Connecticut Department of Developmental Services as a guardian for people with disabilities, advocating for their voices to be heard for their care and well-being. She later became a paralegal and worked for the Freedom of Information Commission until she retired in 1997. She was a former member of the Norfolk Board of Education and enjoyed art, painting and jewelry making, but she mostly enjoyed spending time with her family and supporting her husband’s car racing endeavors as a member of the Newman Racing Team.
In addition to her husband, she leaves two daughters, Laura Leifert of Canaan and Valarie Beecher (and companion Victor Corsi) of Torrington, and grandchildren Nicole and Mason Beecher and Sara and Abby VanDeusen. She also leaves her former son-in-law, Kingsley Beecher. She was predeceased by a grandson, Daniel VanDeusen, and a sister, Frances O’Connor.
Betty, Mommy and Grammy B will be sadly missed. Memorial contributions can be made to Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Litchfield County.
