Volunteers Needed—Free Concert Tickets! 
The Norfolk Chamber Music Festival is looking for community ushers for Friday and Saturday evenings, July 5 to Aug. 10 at the Music Shed. Ushers will take tickets, hand out programs and guide people to seats. In return, ushers receive free admission to concerts. Ushers must have proof of vaccination. Friday Nights on the Green Explodes in July
On July 5, enjoy a free community BBQ hosted by the Norfolk Hub with the music of “Kettle Creek.” On July 12, the Norfolk Land Trust hosts “Skyhunters in Flight,” a live bird show, and the music of Katherine Winston. The Norfolk Volunteer Fire Department hosts an ice cream social on July 19 and invites everyone to melt to the music of the “Kenn Morr Band.”  The BBQ will again be fired up, courtesy of the Hub, on July 26 and the musical guest will be Norfolk’s own Andy Styles. All events run from 6 to 8 p.m. on the village green.

Creative Pop-Up in July
Artist Leslie Watkins will offer art classes at the former Artisans Guild space in the Royal Arcanum Building, 3 Station Place, from July 5-28. Classes include watercolor painting, paper crafting and journal making. An opening reception to commemorate the rich history of the Artisans Guild in Norfolk will be held on Friday, July 5, from 5 to 7 p.m. The pop-up creative space will be open Thursdays through Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., with a “Crafternoon Tea” on Sundays, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. See the full schedule at dandelioncottagedesign.com.

Art Exhibit at the Hub
On Sunday, July 7, from 3 to 5 p.m., there will be a reception at the Norfolk Hub for the opening of an exhibition by Dodie Wexler. The artist creates finely detailed works out of materials like paper scraps, vintage stamps, fabrics, beads, maps, and other materials. The show will run through Aug. 28.

Celebrate 50 Years of Art at the Library
The Norfolk Library will feature the work of 27 artists in an exhibition to celebrate 50 years of public art at the library. The opening reception, hosted by the Library Associates, will be held Sunday, July 7, from 4 to 6 p.m. The exhibition will run through Aug. 29 and all artwork is for sale.

Norfolk Library Adventure Mondays
Adventure is the theme for the Norfolk Library’s summer reading program, with special events planned for Mondays from 5 to 6 p.m. Children are invited to step out and hip hop on July 8, meet creepy reptiles on July 15, explore collage art on July 22 and see constellations in a star lab on July 29. Connecting Mindfulness with Nature 
In this four-week course at the Norfolk Library, mindfulness practitioner Miranda Lee will teach participants how to live a more mindful life and equip them with the tools they need to help build resilience against the challenges of day-to-day life. Classes will be offered at different sites from 9:15 to 10 a.m. on Fridays, beginning July 12. Meet at the Library at 9 a.m. to carpool to the off-site classes. Meet the Lakeville Journal
On Wednesday, July 17, from 6 to 8 p.m., the Norfolk Hub hosts a meet and greet and Q&A with the writers and editors of the Lakeville Journal.

Joint Chiefs Bring Their Party to the Plaza
Grab a chair and friends for a free concert by local favorites the “Joint Chiefs” on Robertson Plaza in downtown Norfolk on Saturday, July 20, from 3 to 5 p.m. Enjoy great music against the backdrop of City Meadow and Haystack Mountain. Sponsored by the Norfolk Economic Development Commission and the Norfolk Hub.

Author Talk at Colebrook Historical Society
The Colebrook Historical Society will host author/historian Peter Vermilyea on Friday, July 26 from 7 to 9 p.m. for a discussion of his book, “The Hidden History of Litchfield County.” All are welcome to attend. The historical society is located at the intersection of Routes 183 and 182A in Colebrook Center. Woodland Academy Applications Open
The Great Mountain Forest Woodland Academy provides education for landowners interested in managing their land. The program is open to woodland owners, land trust stewards, educators and engaged citizens. Applications are now being accepted. Classes will take place on Saturday, Aug. 3, Aug. 17 and Sept. 14. Save the Date for Summer Party and Auction 
The Norfolk Library will host a festive summer evening under the tent on Friday, Aug. 23. Hors d’oeuvres, signature cocktails and wine will be served. Then get ready to have some fun with the live auction. Prince Edward Island, the Bahamas, coastal Maine, Ireland, and Provence are the outstanding getaways on offer. Tickets are $35 at the door and support the library’s many free events.

Save the Date for Tour de Forest
The annual Tour de Forest bike ride fundraiser for Norfolk Rails to Trails and Great Mountain Forest will be held on Saturday, Oct. 19. Register for either the 13-mile ride or the 29-mile Icebox Gravel ride at www.bikereg.com/norfolk-ct-tour-de-forest.
