Special Tree to Honor Local Veterans
Raising funds for veteran’s issues
A very special tree will be growing inside the Norfolk Hub, starting Oct. 1. The Veteran Remembrance Tree offers an opportunity for townspeople to honor and remember our veterans. This initiative is sponsored by the Norfolk Volunteer Fire Department (NVFD) as a way to bring the community together for those served to protect us all.
The Veteran Tree will be on display at the Hub from Oct. 1 through Veterans’ Day, Nov. 11. People who want to honor a veteran can do so at the Hub by making a donation of any amount and writing the name of their special veteran on a tag, which will be displayed on the Veteran Tree.
All proceeds will go directly toward Norfolk veterans’ causes, such as possible creation of a new monument, the continued refurbishment and cleaning of the existing monuments or working with
“The Veteran Tree is a special way for our community to come together, pay tribute to those who have served, and support local veterans’ causes,” said Paul Padua, president of the Norfolk Volunteer Fire Department. “We encourage everyone to participate and honor the veterans who have made sacrifices for our freedom.”
