Snow, Cold Weather and Santa Arrive Together

Temperatures in the 20’s and a light dusting of snow created the perfect setting on Saturday, Nov. 30, as dozens gathered on Village Green for the arrival of a festooned firetruck bearing Santa Claus. The annual festivity, made possible by the Norfolk Volunteer Fire Department, culminated in a countdown for turning on the lights of the town’s Christmas tree. Warm cider and hot chocolate provided warmth for frosty fingers; donut holes and candy canes added sweetness and bendable light sticks, dispensed after a carol sing at the Norfolk Library, illuminated the night. Although one child was overheard saying he wanted to see the “fake Santa,” Norfolk’s Santa was having none of it. “I’m Santa,” he said, when asked for a name.
