Top Dogs in Norfolk
Town Clerk Debbie Nelson reported the issuance of 141 dog license as of June 23, about half the number that are usually distributed during the year. The top dog is Nelson’s own dog, Charlie, with license number one. He is followed by Boston Black owned by Sandy Evans, a member of the Board of Selectman, and Boone, owned by Jenna Brown and her family. Nelson notes that the cost of a dog license goes up $1 for every month after June. The cost is $8 for dogs that have been spayed or neutered and $19 for all others. A certificate for immunization against rabies is required.
Contract Signed for Royal Arcanum
Michael Selleck, co-president of The Norfolk Hub (TNH) confirmed that a contract for sale of the Royal Arcanum building in Norfolk’s town center has been signed. The buyer, as reported in April, is American Folk & Heritage LLC. The entity was founded by New York fashion designer Emily Adams Bode Aujla; her husband Aaron Aujla and his brother Dev Aujla. Selleck said there would be no further comment until the transaction was completed but offered no date.
Transfer Station, Tobey Stickers
Town Hall has done a brisk business since June 1 when stickers became available for access to the Town Transfer Station and Tobey Pond. As of June 23, Town Clerk Debbie Nelson sold 260 stickers for the transfer station at $100 apiece ($80 a second sticker). She has distributed 132 stickers for Tobey—just as temperatures broke the 90-degree mark—for $85 and $60 for senior citizens.
Church Holds Successful Auction
Norfolk’s United Church of Christ held its first silent auction in six years on May 31 and raised nearly $15,000 to support church programs and activities. Bidding was particularly fierce for bluebird houses made by David Gourley (and otherwise available at no charge at the Norfolk Hub), catered dinners and vacation getaways.
